Wiper Blades

It is recommended you change your wiper blades in the spring and winter or as needed.
Wiper blades act like squeegees. The arm(s) of the wiper drags a thin rubber strip across the windshield to clear away water and / or snow. When the wiper blade is new, the rubber is clean and has no nicks, allowing it to wipe away water and / or snow without leaving streaks.
Wiper blades will wear out due to constant exposure to the sun and grime leaving streaks across the windshield.
There are wiper blades specifically designed for winter. These blades are made from a different rubber compound so they are more pliable in cold weather. They also have a boot that covers the wiping mechanism to prevent snow and ice from building up on the blades and affecting their performance.
Warning Signs
* Rubber has torn away from the wiper arm.
* Streaking of the windshield when the wiper blade is used.
* The wiper blade rubber is cracked or split.
* A chattering or squeaking sound when the wiper blade is working.
